BALTIMORE -- Alex Rodriguez said that he felt his left hamstring tighten while running the bases in the eighth inning of the Yankees' 7-5 win over the Orioles, but he is hopeful that he will not be forced to miss any time.

Rodriguez felt the lower part of his leg grab as he rounded third base while scoring on a Robinson Cano single. Rodriguez said that he was seen by a doctor at Camden Yards and felt better after receiving treatment.

"It's OK. The doctor saw it, I got some ice on it, it feels pretty good," Rodriguez said. "I'm optimistic about [Tuesday]."

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said that Rodriguez is not scheduled to have any tests. Girardi hopes that Rodriguez, who has been batting second the last two games for New York, can at least serve as the designated hitter on Wednesday.

"We need to keep him in there, so we'll figure something out," Girardi said.

Rodriguez stroked two doubles in four at-bats with an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's win.

"I feel like I'm explosive," Rodriguez said. "I feel like I have an opportunity to hit the ball and drive it to all fields. I thought the last at-bat was indicative of how I'm feeling, especially lately."
