ORLANDO, Fla. -- Mariano Rivera no longer calls the Yankees' bullpen his workplace, so the club is preparing a visit to the all-time saves leader's homeland next spring.

MLB.com has confirmed that the Yankees and Marlins are finalizing plans for two split-squad games to be played on March 14 and 15 in Panama City, which will serve as a tribute to Rivera's long and meritorious service to the organization.

The Yankees have not issued an official announcement concerning the exhibitions, but one is expected in the near future.

Rivera, who retired at the conclusion of the season, said toward the end of the season that he was excited about the possibility of having the Yankees visit his home country next spring.

Rivera, 43, grew up in the fishing port of Puerto Caimito, about an hour's drive from Panama City.
