Bird, the Yankees' No. 11 prospect, led the AFL in runs (21) and tied for the league lead with six home runs. He hit .313/.391/.556 in 26 games for Scottsdale, and his .947 OPS ranked second in the league.
After an injury-plagued season, Buxton, the Twins' top prospect, quickly got back up to speed in the AFL. But he played just 13 games for Salt River before he dislocated his left middle finger diving for a ball in the outfield, bringing an early end to his season. Despite the injury, the 20-year old made the Top Prospects Team for the second straight year.
Buxton wasn't the only Twins outfield prospect to make the team. Eddie Rosario, the club's No. 10 prospect, earned a spot after hitting .330/.345/.410 with 10 stolen bases in 24 games. He led the batting race much of the fall before dropping into second behind Jesse Winker on the final day of the regular season.
Winker, the Reds' No. 2 prospect, hit .338/.440/.559 with three home runs in 19 games and was also named to the Prospect Team.
While the Twins, A's, D-backs and Yankees were all well represented with two players apiece on the Top Prospect Team, the Dodgers led all organizations with three players on the squad. Shortstop Corey Seager, outfielder Scott Schebler and second baseman Darnell Sweeney, the club's Nos. 1, 9 and 13 prospects, respectively, were all honored.
The Prospect Team also included right-hander Mark Appel, the top overall pick in the 2013 First-Year Player Draft. The Astros' No. 2 prospect posted a 2.61 ERA and struck out 24 batters in a league-leading 31 innings. He began the fall with a streak of 14 scoreless innings.
