NEW YORK -- The Yankees added some depth to their upcoming camp by signing right-hander Kyle Davies to a Minor League contract with an invitation to Spring Training.
With the signing, 67 players are now expected to report to camp, with pitchers and catchers scheduled to arrive in Tampa, Fla., on Feb. 20.
Davies, 31, last pitched in the Major Leagues in 2011 with the Royals. He missed all of 2012 with a right shoulder injury, and he spent the next two seasons in the Twins and Indians systems. Last year, Davies was 11-9 with a 3.91 ERA in 26 combined starts for Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus in Cleveland's chain.
On Aug. 4, 2007, Davies surrendered Alex Rodriguez's 500th career home run at Yankee Stadium. Initially selected by the Braves in the fourth round of the 2001 First-Year Player Draft, Davies is 43-65 with a 5.59 ERA in 151 career games (144 starts) for Atlanta (2005-07) and Kansas City (2007-11).
