Feeling ready to go, Tex returns to Yanks' lineup

NEW YORK -- Mark Teixeira took early batting practice on the diamond at Yankee Stadium on Friday and declared himself ready to play, having missed the Yankees' last three games with inflammation in his surgically repaired right wrist.

Teixeira said that the inflammation is related to the injury that ended his 2013 campaign, and he has been told that it could flare up again. He believes that he can stay in the lineup with proper management.

"It's exactly what we expected," said Teixeira, who visited a New York-based specialist during Thursday's off-day. "It's just tendinitis. That's what we expected. From that standpoint, it's a relief that there's no structural damage, but it's just something that we'll have to continue to deal with."

Teixeira was scratched from Monday's lineup against the Cardinals in St. Louis and has not played since Sunday against the White Sox in Chicago. The inflammation first started bothering him during Saturday's extra-inning game at U.S. Cellular Field.

"I'll just stay on top of it. I have stayed on top of it up until now," Teixeira said. "The next time it flares up, maybe take a day. Hopefully it doesn't turn into three. Sometimes taking a day when you first feel it will keep you from having to miss three. That's the goal."

Teixeira's absence during the Cardinals series forced the Yankees to use Kelly Johnson, Brian McCann and Brendan Ryan at first base. Friday, Teixeira was back at first and hitting cleanup.

"You can't predict when inflammation is going to pop up," manager Joe Girardi said. "I don't think we've run anyone out there too much to this point where we've jeopardized [health], but sometimes things just pop up and you have to deal with it."

Beltran optimistic about return after game-speed BP

NEW YORK -- Carlos Beltran took batting practice from both sides of the plate on the field at Yankee Stadium on Friday, and the Yankees outfielder said that he was "relieved" to not feel any discomfort in his ailing right elbow.

Beltran, who is currently on the 15-day disabled list, is hoping to avoid surgery that would shave down a bone spur in his elbow. Beltran said that he was able to take his swings at full-game speed, an encouraging sign as he works to return to the big league lineup.

"It's been a long wait for me mentally, just trying to get back as soon as I can and working as hard as I can to avoid surgery," Beltran said. "Thank God, things are going well."

The Yankees have estimated that if Beltran needs surgery, it would take him out of action for an additional eight to 12 weeks. Friday's development is a positive step, but it brings no guarantees.

"I don't think you're out of the woods," manager Joe Girardi said. "I think he has to go through rehab games where all types of things happen -- where you swing and miss, or you get fooled, or you get out in front of a ball.

"I think you're going to have to go through some of that. And you could go through rehab games, and you still may not know. The only way to find out if we can get him into games is if we get him in games."

Girardi said that Beltran, 37, would take batting practice again on Saturday and is expected to require at least a brief Minor League rehabilitation assignment before being available to help in the Majors. Girardi said that if Beltran comes back, he would probably be used more as a designated hitter in the early going, with Ichiro Suzuki and Alfonso Soriano continuing to play right field.

Beltran first felt the discomfort in his his elbow while hitting in the underground cages during the Subway Series game against the Mets on May 12. He said that a pair of cortisone injections have helped to alleviate the discomfort, as well as a brace that he plans to wear on his elbow while batting.

"I'm happy, honestly," Beltran said. "These few days have been tough because I've been going seeing doctors, seeing [Dr. James] Andrews. The doctor said it was a 50-50 chance. The 50-50 chance means that I'm glad I'm on this 50 percent. I'm happy about that."

Kelley takes 'big step' with bullpen session

NEW YORK -- Shawn Kelley threw 20 fastballs and snapped off five sliders in the bullpen Friday at Yankee Stadium, his first time on a mound since his back locked up following a May 6 outing against the Angels in Anaheim.

Kelley, who is on the Yankees' 15-day disabled list with a strained lumbar spine, said that he tested his back by throwing with some intensity, about what he normally would have done to prepare for coming into a game.

"Honestly, today was a big step," Kelley said. "If I wake up tomorrow and feel good, then I know that we can probably put a schedule in tact and set a goal."

Kelley is tentatively scheduled to throw another bullpen on Sunday and would then be sent on a Minor League rehabilitation assignment, manager Joe Girardi said.

"He's going to have to pitch somewhere," Girardi said. "It's been 3 1/2 weeks since he's been in a game, so he's going to have to get in a game. We're probably going to want him to do another bullpen first before that happens."

Bombers bits

• Left-hander CC Sabathia (right knee inflammation) was seen on Friday by team physician Dr. Christopher Ahmad, examining his progress. Sabathia is not expected to be ready for big league duty until July at the earliest.

"He is better and he's going to start some more movement," manager Joe Girardi said after Friday's 6-1 loss to the Twins. "They have all these fancy treadmills and things. I think he's going to start doing some of that."

Brian Roberts was elevated to sixth in the Yankees' lineup on Friday, the second time he has hit in that slot this season. Roberts extended his hitting streak to six games with a single to lead off the second. In that stretch, he is hitting .348 (8-for-23) with two doubles, a homer and two RBIs.

"Roberts has been swinging the bat. His at-bats have been really good," Girardi said before the game. "He's consistently hit the ball good, so we moved him up."

• On this date in 1956, Mickey Mantle slugged a home run off the Senators' Pedro Ramos that struck the upper-deck frieze in right field at Yankee Stadium, missing by mere inches from going completely out of the stadium.

Off to superb start, Hughes set to face former team

By Rhett Bollinger / MLB.com | 5/30/2014 8:37 P.M. ET

NEW YORK -- Phil Hughes made his return to Yankee Stadium on Friday as a member of the Twins for the first time since joining Minnesota on a three-year, $24 million deal in the offseason.

Hughes, who has been the Twins' best starter this season, is set to pitch against his former club on Sunday, but he addressed the media before Friday's game. Hughes admitted it was strange returning to Yankee Stadium as a visitor and that he wished his final season in pinstripes would've went better, as he posted a 5.19 ERA in 29 starts and a relief appearance last year.

"I have a lot of great feelings toward this city, this team, the fans, so it's tough when you leave somewhere on such a negative note," Hughes said. "That's how you're going to be remembered by most, which is unfortunate. But I feel very fondly about my time here. I don't have any ill feelings towards anybody. That's just kind of the way things go. Leaving here on a bad note last year was tough. But what are you going to do? That's just the way it is."

Hughes, 27, has excelled since joining the Twins, leading the rotation with five wins and a 3.23 ERA. He's also posted a 1.56 ERA over his last six starts with 30 strikeouts and no walks in 40 1/3 innings. He last walked a batter on April 20, and has faced 175 hitters without issuing a free pass.

Hughes credited Twins pitching coach Rick Anderson for helping him with his mechanics in Spring Training, and said his approach on the mound is similar to when he was with the Yankees. Hughes did have his fair share of success in New York, as he was an All-Star in 2010 and won 16 games with a 4.19 ERA in '12 before struggling last year.

"It's not a whole lot of difference," said Hughes, who has been relying heavily on his fastball and cutter this year, while working in a few breaking balls. "I'm doing the same things I do -- attack hitters, throw strikes, pound the zone. My stuff's been pretty good -- avoiding walks and getting fly balls, doing things I normally do. It's just been working out."

Yankees manager Joe Girardi only had good things to say about Hughes, who posted a 4.53 ERA in seven years with the Yankees.

"He did some really good things for us," Girardi said. "He was pivotal in our bullpen for our [2009] championship run. Started, I think, the next year and won, I don't know, I think 18 games or something. He won 16 another year. He had some really good years here. He had a tough year last year, and that can happen to anyone."

Hughes said that he's going to try to treat Sunday's start like he would any other, but that it'll be weird to face former teammates he was close to such as Derek Jeter and Brett Gardner. And as for the reaction by Yankees fans, he's anticipating a Bronx cheer instead of an ovation when he takes the mound.

"Probably not very good," Hughes said with a laugh when asked about what kind of reception he expects. "But that's the way it is. They're tough. That's what makes playing here so great. They're the best fans. They're passionate. They love this team. They love this city."

Early or late, Yankees able to draft some gems

Written By limadu on Jumat, 30 Mei 2014 | 14.25

The Yankees have rediscovered the First-Year Player Draft as a vital system pipeline in recent years, with general manager Brian Cashman and his staff emphasizing its importance in helping the club find young and cost-effective talent to stock the big league club.

While the Yankees have a reputation for being perennial players on the free-agent front, the Draft is viewed as one more weapon in their tool belt. The Yanks do not have a selection this year until the second round, choosing 55th overall due to Draft compensation, but there is optimism within the organization that the club will be able to pluck players capable of helping at the big league level in the future.

The 2014 Draft will take place on June 5-7, beginning with the Draft preview show on MLB.com and MLB Network on Thursday, June 5, at 6 p.m. ET. Live Draft coverage from MLB Network's Studio 42 begins at 7 p.m., with the top 74 picks being streamed on MLB.com and broadcast on MLB Network. MLB.com's exclusive coverage of the second and third days will begin with a live Draft show at 12:30 p.m. ET on June 6.

MLB.com's coverage includes Draft Central, the Top 100 Draft Prospects list and Draft Tracker, a live interactive application that includes a searchable database of Draft-eligible players. Every selection will be tweeted live from @MLBDraftTracker, and you can also keep up to date by following @MLBDraft. And get into the Draft conversation by tagging your tweets with #mlbdraft.

Here is a breakdown by round of the Yankees' best historical selections in the Draft.

Round 1: Derek Jeter, 1992
You know the story by now: Jeter was the sixth overall selection in 1992, as the Astros, Indians, Expos, Orioles and Reds all passed on the promising shortstop from Kalamazoo, Mich. Houston scout Hal Newhouser, a Hall of Famer from his pitching days, was so distressed that his repeated recommendations to select Jeter were ignored that he quit his job. Five World Series championships, 13 All-Star selections and more than 3,000 hits later, the Yankees are still thankful that those five clubs passed on Jeter.

A very honorable mention goes to catcher Thurman Munson, who was selected fourth overall in the 1968 Draft. Other notable big leaguers selected by the Yankees in the first round include: outfielder Carl Everett (1990), left-hander Scott McGregor (1972), left-hander Eric Milton (1996), right-hander Mark Prior (1998, did not sign), right-hander Ian Kennedy (2006), right-hander Phil Hughes (2004), right-hander Joba Chamberlain (2006) and infielder Rex Hudler (1978).

Round 2: Al Leiter, 1984
The bulk of his career was spent with other organizations, but Leiter was picked by the Yankees out of their own backyard in Toms River, N.J., and made his big league debut three years later. His Yanks story carries a tinge of "What if?" Manager Dallas Green left Leiter out to throw 162 pitches on a cold spring evening in 1989, which may have led to the arm troubles that derailed his career for the next three years. Leiter enjoyed years of excellence with the Blue Jays, Marlins and Mets, finishing his career with the Yankees in 2005. He is currently an analyst for the team's YES Network.

Round 3: Ron Guidry, 1971
"Louisiana Lightning" played his entire 14-year career with the Yankees from 1975-88, compiling a lifetime record of 170-91 with a 3.29 ERA and earning honors as the 1978 American League Cy Young Award winner. His 18-strikeout game against the Angels that June is arguably his most memorable performance. Guidry won five Gold Glove Awards, appeared in four All-Star Games and had his uniform No. 49 retired by the club in 2003, then later served as the club's pitching coach.

Round 4: Stan Bahnsen, 1965
A right-hander from the University of Nebraska, Bahnsen broke in with the Yankees and earned honors as the 1968 AL Rookie of the Year by going 17-12 with a 2.05 ERA. He pitched for the Yanks through 1971, going 55-52 with a 3.10 ERA in 153 games, before being traded to the White Sox. Bahnsen also played for the A's, Expos, Angels and Phillies in a 16-year big league career.

Round 5: Greg Gagne, 1979
Gagne signed with the Yankees after being drafted out of high school in Somerset, Mass., and played in their farm system until 1982, when he was traded with Ron Davis and Paul Boris to the Twins for Roy Smalley. An infielder, Gagne compiled a lifetime .254 average over a 15-year career with Minnesota, the Royals and Dodgers from 1983-97. The Yanks drafted B.J. Surhoff (34.3 career WAR) in the fifth round in 1982, but he did not sign.

Round 6: Mike Pagliarulo, 1981
"Pags" signed with the Yankees out of the University of Miami and manned third base for the club from 1984-89, slugging 134 homers over those six seasons. His best year was '87, when he batted .234 with 32 homers and 87 RBIs. Pagliarulo also played with the Padres, Twins, Orioles and Rangers in an 11-year career. The Yanks selected current Nationals right-hander Doug Fister in the sixth round of the 2005 Draft, but he did not sign.

Round 7: Steve Kline, 1966
Kline, a right-handed pitcher, played 4 1/2 seasons with the Yankees from 1970-74, ranking eighth in the AL with a 2.40 ERA in 1972. Kline was part of a big 1974 trade that sent Chris Chambliss and Dick Tidrow to the Bronx. He posted a career 3.26 ERA in six big league seasons with the Yanks, Indians and Braves.

Round 8: Austin Jackson, 2005
The Yankees selected Jackson, a right-handed-hitting outfielder with speed and some power, out of high school in Denton, Texas. One of the Yanks' higher-rated prospects, Jackson was traded to the Tigers in a December 2009 three-way deal that brought Curtis Granderson to the Bronx.

Round 9: Fred McGriff, 1981
The "Crime Dog" was destined to slug 493 career home runs, and he was originally property of the Yankees, selected out of high school in Tampa, Fla. The future five-time All-Star and three-time Silver Slugger was dealt by Yanks GM Bill Bergesch to the Blue Jays on Dec. 9, 1982, packaged with Dave Collins, Mike Morgan and cash in exchange for Tom Dodd and Dale Murray. Oops.

Round 10: T.J. Beam, 2003
To date, the Yankees have received their most substantial big league contributions in the 10th round from Beam, a right-hander taken out of high school in Scottsdale, Ariz. Beam made 20 appearances with the 2006 Yanks, going 2-0 with an 8.50 ERA in 20 games, and he also made 32 appearances for the '08 Pirates.

Round 11: Darrell Einertson, 1995
Only three of the Yankees' 11th-round picks have had time in the big leagues. Of the trio, the right-hander Einertson made the most appearances, getting into 11 games and posting a 3.55 ERA with the 2000 Yanks before injuries cut his career short.

Round 12: Andy Stankiewicz, 1986
An infielder, Stankiewicz was selected by the Yankees out of Pepperdine University. He made his big league debut with the Yanks in 1992, batting .268 in 116 games, and he spent big league time with the Astros, Expos and D-backs in a seven-year big league career. The Yankees selected infielder Duane Kuiper (4.2 career WAR) in 1968, but he did not sign.

Round 13: Dan McCutchen, 2006
A right-hander, McCutchen was twice taken by the Yankees; he also had his name called in 2003, but he did not sign. Now with the Rangers after spending four seasons with the Pirates, McCutchen was traded by New York to Pittsburgh in July 2008 with Jeff Karstens, Ross Ohlendorf and Jose Tabata for Damaso Marte and Xavier Nady.

Round 14: Scott Kamieniecki, 1986
Kamieniecki was taken by the Yankees out of the University of Michigan and debuted with New York in 1991. He was 36-39 with a 4.33 ERA in 113 games (94 starts) for the Yanks from 1991-96, and also spent big league time with the Orioles, Indians and Braves.

Round 15: Steve Frey, 1983
A right-handed reliever, Frey was selected out of Bucks County Community College in Lewisburg, Pa. He was traded by the Yankees to the Mets in a rare 1987 crosstown deal that brought Rafael Santana to the Bronx; in '89, the Mets dealt Frey to the Expos, where he made his big league debut. He had a career 3.76 ERA in eight seasons with Montreal, the Angels, Giants, Mariners and Phillies.

Tex's wrist inflammation confirmed; Beltran takes cuts

By Bryan Hoch / MLB.com | 5/29/2014 3:52 P.M. ET

NEW YORK -- Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira was examined by a specialist on Thursday in New York, who confirmed that the slugger is currently experiencing inflammation in his right wrist, the team said.

Teixeira, who was seen by Dr. Keith Raskin, is considered day to day. Teixeira was scratched from Monday's lineup against the Cardinals with stiffness in the wrist, which was surgically repaired last season.

Teixeira has not played since Sunday against the White Sox in Chicago, pressing Kelly Johnson, Brendan Ryan and Brian McCann into duty manning first base during the Cardinals series. Teixeira is batting .248 with nine home runs and 25 RBIs in 35 games this season.

Additionally, the Yankees said that outfielder Carlos Beltran took 25 swings from each side of the plate Thursday in the home batting cage at Yankee Stadium (50 total swings), receiving soft toss from Yankees hitting coach Kevin Long.

Beltran did not experience any discomfort and is scheduled to repeat this workout on Friday, according to the team. Beltran is currently on the 15-day disabled list with a bone spur in his right elbow and is hoping to avoid surgery that could cost him eight to 12 weeks of the season.

McCann makes first professional start at first base

By Alex Halsted / MLB.com | 5/28/2014 9:42 P.M. ET

ST. LOUIS -- Brian McCann wasn't sure what to expect. He borrowed a first baseman's glove from Kelly Johnson's locker and sought tips from teammate Mark Teixeira.

The rest was to be determined.

On Wednesday, for the first time in his professional career, McCann was slotted into a lineup at first base. The 30-year-old veteran saw time at first base three times this season as a late-game replacement, otherwise he never played there. At least not since high school.

"I kind of know how to work around the bag, so that's not going to be a problem," McCann said. "It's just fielding ground balls and hopefully making a pick or two. We'll see what happens."

McCann has taken a few grounders at first this season. In four innings manning the position, he made three putouts and avoided making any mistakes.

But with Teixeira sitting for a third straight day resting his stiff right wrist and third baseman Yangervis Solarte getting the night off, first base opened up, as Johnson shifted to third.

McCann told manager Joe Girardi that he would be open to giving it a try if needed.

"Whatever's going to help the team," McCann said, "that's what I want to do."

Girardi had been hesitant, but after seeing McCann spend some time at first, including during the eighth inning on Tuesday, and with limited options, he was comfortable enough with writing his name in Wednesday's lineup.

"There are a lot of things you don't plan on doing during the course of the season that kind of go awry when some things happen," Girardi said. "I never planned on playing [outfielder] Vernon Wells at third base last year. Never in my wildest dreams, but it happened. That's [what] you have to be, sometimes, a little creative."

His advice for McCann?

"I told him he can take his shinguards if he wants," Girardi said.

Long-term, Girardi has no intention of continually using McCann at first base, but he may have another option in his seven-time All-Star catcher if needed.

"I wouldn't make too much of this today," Girardi said. "I'm not looking at this as being an option going forward right now. I still consider him my everyday catcher. I'm not really thinking much past today, it's just one day I chose to do it."

Slumping Solarte out of lineup for finale vs. Cards

ST. LOUIS -- Manager Joe Girardi stressed that baseball is filled with streaks. Yangervis Solarte finds himself in the middle of a cold one.

Solarte's .285 batting average remains tops among rookies across the Majors, but it's dropped in recent games. Since May 15, a day after he watched his nine-game hitting streak end, Solarte has hit just .152.

The 26-year-old left multiple runners on base in Tuesday's 6-0 loss to the Cardinals, hitting into a double play with two on and one out in one inning and popping out with two on and two out in another.

On Wednesday he was held out of the lineup.

"We always look for reasons why a guy is scuffling," Girardi said. "It's part of the game. ... Players go through things, either really hot streaks or cold streaks. If you didn't go through them, you'd probably hit .400 or .500 all the time.

"You know they're going to go through them, and when they're going through them, sometimes you just need to give them a little break."

Yanks' bullpen coming up big when it counts

ST. LOUIS -- The Yankees' bullpen has been credited with three extra-inning wins during this nine-game road trip, and the work hasn't gone unnoticed.

"They've done a really good job. We've done a good job of giving them days when they need days," manager Joe Girardi said. "The thing that we came into the year with was multiple-inning guys. We weren't really a one-inning seventh, eighth and ninth [kind of team]. We knew we weren't that."

One key to that philosophy has been right-handed reliever Dellin Betances, who has been asked to get more than three outs in 14 of his 21 appearances this season. Betances, a converted starter, has assumed a major role in the bullpen, tossing 30 1/3 innings in the first 51 games.

The results have been powerful, in more ways than one. Betances has allowed only five earned runs, for a 1.48 ERA. And then there are the strikeouts.

Betances has struck out 51 and is holding hitters to a .144 average. But even with his dominance out of the bullpen and multi-inning outings, Girardi is keeping a close eye on his pitch count and innings pitched -- as he is with all of his relievers.

"His workload is very similar to what he's done before, but I'm very cognizant of his workload and how we're using him," Girardi said. "I watch all of the relievers. I'm very careful with the pitches they throw, because we want them year after year after year."

Bombers bits

• Second baseman Brian Roberts has hit safely in four consecutive games. During that span he has gone 5-for-15 with a walk and a home run.

• Tuesday night's shutout marked the second time this season that the New York offense has been blanked, the first coming on April 5 in Toronto. Entering Wednesday's series finale, the Yankees are 10-3 since the start of 2013 in games immediately following a shutout.

• Teixeira, out of the lineup for a third consecutive day on Wednesday, will meet with his surgeon on Thursday.

"It's still a little bit sore, so we didn't put him in there today," Girardi said. "There's still more improvement, but he still feels it, so we thought it was in his best interest just to give him another day, which probably give him two more [because of Thursday's off-day]."

• Shortstop Derek Jeter was given a normal day of rest on Wednesday to combine with Thursday's day off. The Yankees play in 43 of the next 45 days leading up to the All-Star break.

All information submitted online by entrants is subject to, and will be treated in a manner consistent with, MLB.com's Terms of Use accessible at: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/official_info/about_mlb_com/terms_of_use.jsp and Privacy Policy accessible at: www.mlb.com/privacy.  All online entries must include a valid e-mail address for the entrant.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:  Upon successful registration, follow the instructions provided to receive one (1) virtual bingo card (the "Bingo Card") for each game of the 2012 MLB Postseason played during the Promotion Period (each, a "Postseason Game"). In addition, during the Promotion Period, participants may utilize sharing functionality available via the Promotion upon completion of a successful Contest (the "Sharing Functionality") to receive two (2) additional Bingo Cards. For each eligible individual any entrant notifies or makes aware of the Promotion who clicks on a valid link made available via the Sharing Functionality identifiable as having come from the entrant, such entrant shall receive two (2) additional Bingo Cards (for a total of three (3) Bingo Cards). No additional Bingo Cards will be received other than through verified Sharing Functionality. There is a limit of three (3) Bingo Cards per person and per e-mail address per Postseason Game. Each Bingo Card shall include a 5x5 grid that includes twenty-five (25) tiles (each, a "Tile"). Each Tile will include one (1) randomly selected game outcome for the active Postseason Game. For example, a participant could have a "Josh Hamilton Double" Tile on their Bingo Card which would be automatically marked in the event Josh Hamilton hits a double during a Postseason Game. Any eligible participant who receives a Bingo Card that becomes marked with five (5) Tiles in a vertical, horizontal or diagonal row (each, a "Potential Winning Bingo Card") may be a potential Prize winner, subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with the terms of these Official Rules. (See the Prize Claim Section below for more information.) For purposes of this Promotion, MLB game outcomes will not be updated to reflect any official MLB statistics changes or corrections that may occur after the completion of any Postseason Game. Once each Postseason Game is final following completion of the final out of that game, it will be final for purposes of this Promotion. In the event any Postseason Game is cancelled, postponed or suspended, all Bingo Cards will be void for that game and Sponsor reserves the right to award the applicable Prizes by way of random drawing from among all eligible participants as of the time of such cancellation, postponement or suspension.

PRIZE CLAIMS: In the event you receive a message within MLB.com Gameday notifying you that you have a Potential Winning Bingo Card, you must claim your Potential Winning Bingo Card by following the onscreen instructions provided by no later than ten (10) minutes following the end of the applicable Postseason Game to be eligible for the Drawing (defined below). Failure to claim your Potential Winning Bingo Card within ten (10) minutes following the end of the applicable Postseason Game will render the Potential Winning Bingo Card void and result in Prize forfeiture.

ALL POTENTIAL WINNING BINGO CARDS ARE SUBJECT TO VERIFICATION BY SPONSOR WHOSE DECISIONS ARE FINAL AND BINDING. AN ENTRANT IS NOT A WINNER OF ANY PRIZE, EVEN IF THE PROMOTION SHOULD SO INDICATE, UNLESS AND UNTIL ENTRANT'S ELIGIBILITY, THE POTENTIAL WINNING BINGO CARD AND ENTRANT'S COMPLIANCE WITH THESE OFFICIAL RULES HAVE BEEN VERIFIED BY SPONSOR AND ENTRANT HAS BEEN NOTIFIED THAT SUCH VERIFICATION IS COMPLETE. SPONSOR WILL NOT ACCEPT SCREEN SHOTS OR OTHER EVIDENCE OF WINNING IN LIEU OF ITS VALIDATION PROCESS.

RANDOM DRAWINGS: Approximately thirty (30) minutes following the final out of each Postseason Game, five (5) potential winners will be selected by random drawing from among all eligible participants who claim valid Potential Winning Bingo Cards for that Postseason Game in accordance with these Official Rules (the "Drawing"). Subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with the terms of these Official Rules, the potential winners will be declared official winners of the Sweepstakes (each, a "Winner" and collectively, the "Winners"). Odds of winning a Prize will depend on the total number of Bingo Cards issued and the total number of valid Potential Winning Bingo Cards claimed for each applicable Postseason Game. Limit one (1) Prize per person, per family and per household.

PRIZES:  A maximum of two hundred fifteen (215) prizes (each, a "Prize" and collectively, the "Prizes") will be awarded (i.e. five (5) Prizes per each Postseason Game with a maximum of forty-three (43) Postseason Games), as follows:

For up to twenty-two (22) Postseason Games during the 2012 Wild Card Games and the 2012 Division Series, each Winner will receive one (1) Postseason.TV subscription for the remainder of the 2012 MLB Postseason. Approximate retail value ("ARV") of each such Prize: $4.99.

For up to twenty-one (21) Postseason Games during the 2012 League Championship Series and the 2012 MLB World Series Championship, each Winner will receive one (1) MLB.TV Offseason Package subscription. ARV of each such Prize: $24.99.

Total ARV of all Prizes: $3172.85.

For the avoidance of doubt, no Prizes will be awarded in connection with any 2012 MLB Postseason game that is not played because it is not necessary.

PRIZE CONDITIONS: All Prize details to be determined in the sole discretion of Sponsor. Each Winner is fully responsible for any and all applicable federal, state and local taxes (including income and withholding taxes). Postseason.TV subscriptions are subject to blackout and other restrictions - see www.postseason.tv for complete details. All costs and expenses associated with the Prize acceptance and use not specified herein as being provided including, but not limited to, any and all expenses incurred by accepting the Prize are the sole responsibility of the Winners. The Prizes are non-transferable and non-assignable, with no cash redemptions except at Sponsor's sole and absolute discretion. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute any Prize (or any portion thereof) with one of comparable or greater value at its sole and absolute discretion.

NOTIFICATION:  Each potential winner will be notified at the e-mail address, postal address and/or telephone number (in the sole discretion of Sponsor) provided at the time of entry (the "Prize Notification"). In the event that any potential winner does not respond to any such Prize Notification within three (3) days of the date of issuance or declines the Prize for any reason, a disqualification will result, the Prize will be forfeited and, at Sponsor's sole discretion and time permitting, an alternate potential winner may be randomly selected from among all remaining eligible entries. Each potential winner may be required to submit his/her valid social security number and/or other identification to Sponsor and may be required to execute, have notarized and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Release of Liability and, unless prohibited by law, Publicity, within five (5) days of date of issuance. Failure to submit any identification required by Sponsor or to return the required documents within the specified time period, noncompliance with these Official Rules or the return of the Prize (or any portion thereof) or Prize Notification as undeliverable may result in disqualification and Prize forfeiture and, at Sponsor's sole discretion and time permitting, may cause an alternate potential winner to be randomly selected from among all remaining eligible entries.

WAIVER OF LIABILITY/PUBLICITY RELEASE:  By participating in the Promotion and submitting an entry, each entrant agrees to (i) be bound by these Official Rules, including all entry requirements, and (ii) waive any and all claims against Sponsor, the other MLB Entities, Facebook, Apple, Inc. and each of their respective parents, affiliated companies, subsidiaries, officers, directors, employees, agents, licensees, distributors, dealers, retailers, printers, representatives and advertising and promotion agencies, and any and all other companies associated with the Promotion, and all of their respective officers, directors, employees, agents and representatives (collectively, "Released Parties") for any injury, damage or loss that may occur, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from the participation in the Promotion or from the receipt or use of any Prize (or any portion thereof) or any travel or activity related to the receipt or use of any Prize (or any portion thereof). By entering this Promotion, each entrant gives his/her express permission to be contacted by Sponsor by telephone, e-mail and/or postal mail for Promotion purposes. Jeter leads at short, Ellsbury third in ASG voting

Written By limadu on Rabu, 28 Mei 2014 | 14.25

By Alex Halsted / MLB.com | 5/27/2014 9:50 P.M. ET

Derek Jeter has made 13 All-Star Game appearances during his career and is well on his way to a 14th. (AP)

ST. LOUIS -- Derek Jeter has one last shot to be an American League All-Star, and he's right on track.

Jeter is the leading vote-getter at shortstop (602,525) in the first round of All-Star balloting announced on Tuesday, ahead of Chicago's Alexei Ramirez (472,537). The 20-year veteran, who will retire at season's end, has made 13 All-Star Game appearances during his career.

Although Jeter said on Tuesday that he hasn't thought that far ahead, he added that one final stop -- at Target Field this year -- would be an honor.

"All-Star Games are great; I mean, it's a fun experience," said Jeter who has the third-most votes in the AL, behind Mike Trout and Jose Bautista. "You never know when you're going to get a chance to go, but it's something I think every player would look forward to.

"I've appreciated every single one that I've gone to."

Jeter was hitting .273 with 10 RBIs entering Tuesday.

Catcher Brian McCann (373,169) is second behind the Orioles' Matt Wieters (540,258) in voting and Jacoby Ellsbury (417,452) is the last outfielder in, sitting in third, some 16,000 votes ahead of teammate Carlos Beltran.

Other players in the mix are first baseman Mark Teixeira (201,123), who is fifth, with the Tigers' Miguel Cabrera (440,407) leading the way; Alfonso Soriano (221,378), who is fourth among designated hitters; and Brett Gardner (197,577), who is 11th among outfielders.

Fans can cast their votes for starters at MLB.com and all 30 club sites -- online or on a mobile device -- using the 2014 All-Star Game MLB.com Ballot Sponsored by Experian until Thursday, July 3, at 11:59 p.m. ET. The 2014 All-Star Game will be played at Target Field on Tuesday, July 15.

Fans may submit up to 25 online ballots, but they can also earn a one-time bonus of 10 additional online ballots. To access these additional online ballots, you must be logged into your MLB.com account when you submit any online ballot. If you do not have an MLB.com account, register on the site in accordance with the enrollment instructions for a free MLB.com account.

The 2014 All-Star teams will be unveiled on the 2014 MLB All-Star Game Selection Show during the weekend of July 5-6, with further details to follow on MLB.com. The AL will have nine elected starters via the fan balloting program, while the NL will have eight fan-elected starters. Pitchers and reserves for both squads -- totaling 25 for the NL and 24 for the AL -- will be determined through a combination of "Player Ballot" choices and selections made by All-Star managers Mike Matheny (NL) and John Farrell (AL).

Immediately following the announcement of the rosters, you can select the final player for each league's 34-man roster via the 2014 All-Star Game MLB.com Final Vote Sponsored by Experian. Choose again at that point from among five players in each league. The Final Vote returns for its 13th season with more than 430 million votes cast to date, and you'll be able to make selections on MLB.com, club sites and your mobile device.

You'll be on a voting tear at that point, having already selected starters and the last men, and the ritual will not end there. The final phase of All-Star Game voting will again have fans participating in the voting for the Ted Williams All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Award presented by Chevrolet. During the big game, vote exclusively online at MLB.com via the 2014 All-Star Game MLB.com MVP Vote Sponsored by Pepsi. The fan voice will represent 20 percent of the overall vote that determines the recipient of the Arch Ward Trophy.

MLB.com will provide extensive online coverage of the All-Star Week festivities.

The 85th All-Star Game will be televised nationally by FOX, in Canada by Rogers Sportsnet and RDS, and worldwide by partners in more than 200 countries via MLB International's independent feed. ESPN Radio and ESPN Radio Deportes will provide national radio coverage of the All-Star Game. MLB Network and SiriusXM will also provide comprehensive All-Star Week coverage.
