ALL POTENTIAL WINNING BINGO CARDS ARE SUBJECT TO VERIFICATION BY SPONSOR WHOSE DECISIONS ARE FINAL AND BINDING. AN ENTRANT IS NOT A WINNER OF ANY PRIZE, EVEN IF THE PROMOTION SHOULD SO INDICATE, UNLESS AND UNTIL ENTRANT'S ELIGIBILITY, THE POTENTIAL WINNING BINGO CARD AND ENTRANT'S COMPLIANCE WITH THESE OFFICIAL RULES HAVE BEEN VERIFIED BY SPONSOR AND ENTRANT HAS BEEN NOTIFIED THAT SUCH VERIFICATION IS COMPLETE. Joba's struggles continue in outing vs. Rangers

By Bryan Hoch / MLB.com | 6/27/2013 12:01 A.M. ET

NEW YORK -- Joba Chamberlain kept his head down as he trudged toward the first-base dugout, and though he said that he didn't really notice the boos pouring out of Yankee Stadium's grandstands, the reliever also wasn't surprised by them.

Chamberlain turned in another ineffective relief outing for the Yankees on Wednesday, serving up a two-run homer to Nelson Cruz among four hits he permitted while recording two outs in the seventh inning of New York's 8-5 loss to the Rangers.

In Chamberlain's last seven appearances, he has served up four homers, permitting a total of 14 hits and nine earned runs over 6 2/3 innings (12.15 ERA).

"Obviously, I would boo me, too. I'm terrible," Chamberlain said. "There's no getting around it. Obviously, you come and spend money and you want to see someone do their job. It's one of those things where if you don't do your job, you expect to get booed. They have a right to. You can't get mad at them."

Yankees manager Joe Girardi has already shifted Chamberlain to lower-leverage situations, bringing him into games where the club is trailing for six straight appearances. Girardi said that Chamberlain is making mistakes in the middle of the plate and getting hammered for it.

"Somehow we have to find a way to get him going. That's the bottom line," Girardi said. "This guy needs to help us. To me, his stuff is too good not to help us, but right now, he's making mistakes."

Chamberlain has a 6.38 ERA in 19 appearances this season. He said that he would watch video to see if there is a mechanical adjustment that needs to be made, but noted that his velocity has seemed fine, so improving fastball command is his primary goal.

"Obviously, it's frustrating letting the team down. That's the worst part," Chamberlain said. "I know I [stink] right now. There's no getting around it. You've got to figure out what you can do to make it better."

Nunez set to begin rehab assignment Thursday

NEW YORK -- Yankees shortstop Eduardo Nunez was scheduled to begin a Minor League rehabilitation assignment on Wednesday for Class A Advanced Tampa in the Florida State League, but after a rainout, Nunez is expected to play in his first game for Tampa on Thursday.

Nunez, 26, has not played in a game since May 5 because of a left oblique strain that he subsequently re-injured while rehabbing in Tampa, Fla., and is on New York's 60-day disabled list.

Nunez started the season as the Yankees' everyday shortstop with Derek Jeter on the disabled list but batted just .200 (16-for-80) with no home runs and four RBIs in 27 games.

"We expected Derek, and then that changed," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "Nunie went down, and we've had a number of guys who have played shortstop since then.

"[The plan has] changed a little bit, but I don't really think it changes what your goal is. Your goal is always the same; you just end up making a lot more moves than you anticipated, and looking for players that can help you."

Getting closer, Pineda's next start set for Sunday

NEW YORK -- Michael Pineda's next Minor League rehabilitation outing will come on Sunday for Double-A Trenton at Binghamton, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said.

Pineda threw six scoreless innings on Tuesday for Trenton against Erie, throwing 78 pitches. He allowed two hits and two walks while striking out four.

"I was watching the tape, and you can see the movement on his fastball," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "His slider looked pretty good, his changeup looked pretty good."

Pineda, 24, is coming back from right labrum surgery following an injury sustained last spring. In three official Minor League starts, two with Class A Advanced Tampa, Pineda has allowed three runs (one earned) in 14 1/3 combined innings, allowing nine hits with four walks and 11 strikeouts.

A 2011 American League All-Star with Seattle, Pineda has not yet pitched for the Yankees at the big league level, but his debut finally appears to be in sight.

"I'm very excited," Pineda said after Tuesday's start. "I've never pitched at Yankee Stadium. I'm working hard and will be ready to pitch there."

Bombers bits

• Wednesday marks Jeter's 39th birthday. This is the second time in Jeter's career that he has been on the disabled list for his birthday (also 2011) and he will not play a game on his birthday for the sixth time since 1996.

• Girardi won his 599th career game as a manager on Tuesday, and he will become the 16th current manager to reach the 600-win plateau with the Yankees' next victory. 521 of Girardi's 599 victories have come in pinstripes.

• On this date in 1939, the Yankees played their first night game at Philadelphia's Shibe Park, losing, 3-2, to the Athletics.

Little improvement in Teixeira's injured wrist

Written By limadu on Selasa, 25 Juni 2013 | 14.24

By Bryan Hoch / MLB.com | 6/24/2013 3:49 P.M. ET

NEW YORK -- The Yankees are not receiving encouraging reports on first baseman Mark Teixeira, who continues to feel discomfort in his right wrist and may be inching closer to season-ending surgery.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said that Teixeira has seen little improvement since receiving a cortisone injection intended to relieve inflammation in his wrist.

"He's still experiencing soreness," Cashman said in a telephone interview. "All I can tell you is, he has still experienced soreness and our doctors are working through it."

The club estimated that there was a 30-percent chance Teixeira would need surgery after he partially tore the tendon sheath in his wrist in March, a number that remains in play.

"You want someone that's feeling great," Cashman said. "They've never taken surgery off the table. It's always been obviously the worst-case scenario, but I'm not here to tell you anything about that yet."

After missing the first two months of the season, Teixeira made his return on May 31, only to leave New York's June 15 game against the Angels early when he felt unable to swing the bat.

"You guys know me, I'm going to play through everything, but if I literally can't [swing], I was worthless to the team right there," Teixeira said last week. "So I said, we need to get this looked at."

In his brief return, Teixeira hit .151 with three home runs and 12 RBIs in 15 games. He went hitless over his last four games and said that the soreness affects him most when batting left-handed.

Though Teixeira said there is little discomfort when he hits right-handed, both he and manager Joe Girardi shot down a suggestion that he could finish the season as a platoon player against left-handed pitching.

"It's not something that we've discussed, so I can't answer the question," Cashman said on Monday.

With Teixeira back on the disabled list, Lyle Overbay has returned to everyday duty as New York's first baseman. Cashman said that he could not speak to how Teixeira's injury situation might affect his mindset toward acquiring another first baseman over the next month.

"Right now, until I have an official position [about surgery] and not the fact that he's still experiencing soreness, there's really not much more to say," Cashman said.

A-Rod closing in on start of rehab assignment

By Bryan Hoch / MLB.com | 6/24/2013 3:50 P.M. ET

NEW YORK -- Alex Rodriguez's power stroke is improving, and the Yankees third baseman is moving closer to playing in Minor League rehabilitation games, though the club has not yet definitively set a target date for his debut.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman has said that Rodriguez, 37, will begin playing with Class A Tampa at some point in July. The club has been saying that Rodriguez is expected to return from left hip surgery after the July 16 All-Star Game.

"We've had no discussions about when his rehab date will start," Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said on Monday. "He's going in the right direction. He's doing everything necessary.

"We're not in a position where anybody has had any conversation with me about getting ready to start his rehab clock. I think he's getting close; closer every day as long as he has no setbacks."

The New York Daily News, citing a person close to Rodriguez, reported on Monday that the three-time American League Most Valuable Player would begin playing for Tampa on July 1. Cashman said that report was inaccurate.

Rodriguez has been working out at the Yankees' complex in Tampa and continued taking at-bats against live pitching on Monday. Rodriguez hit a ball to the base of the center-field fence and another to the warning track in left-center off a Minor League right-hander, according to The Associated Press.

A-Rod also had an extensive baserunning session and performed sliding drills on a mat in the outfield, which represent two key steps for a player about to make the leap into playing live games against professional competition.

If healthy, Rodriguez would represent a boost for a Yankees club that would welcome contributions at third base. Kevin Youkilis signed a one-year, $12 million deal to serve as A-Rod's replacement but played in just 28 games before undergoing surgery to repair a herniated disk in his back.

Rookie David Adams is currently being given a chance to play every day at third base, and the Yankees have also looked at Jayson Nix, Chris Nelson and -- for one inning -- outfielder Vernon Wells as fill-in third basemen this season.

Rodriguez batted .272 with 18 home runs and 57 RBIs in 122 games for the Yankees last season before struggling in the postseason against the Orioles and Tigers, managing three hits in 25 at-bats.

Also on Monday in Tampa, Yankees captain Derek Jeter took batting practice with A-Rod and rehabbing infielder Eduardo Nunez. Jeter traveled to New York over the weekend and watched Sunday's Old-Timers Day ceremonies from the dugout, while also fielding ground balls on the diamond at Yankee Stadium.

Through charity, Cano hopes to make impact

By Josh Vitale / MLB.com | 6/25/2013 12:00 A.M. ET

NEW YORK -- Robinson Cano understands the value of giving back. The Yankees second baseman grew up in a poor town in a poor country, so he knows how important it is to help others in need.

Since he became a Yankee, he's had that chance. Cano has been doing charity work with his RC24 Foundation for four or five years, he said, helping to raise money to positively impact the lives of less fortunate children in communities in both New York and his native Dominican Republic.

Cano continued that work on Monday night, hosting his "Super Heroes" Fundraiser and Domino Tournament at the 40/40 Club in Manhattan.

He also spent the day at the MLB Fan Cave, hosting 40 kids from his foundation. There were "Super Heroes" in attendance, and Cano and the kids ate pizza, played games and had full run of everything the Fan Cave has to offer.

"The more money you get, the more you can do," Cano said on the red carpet before the event. "Even if you have money or don't have money, if you've got good people around you, you can do a lot of good things."

There were plenty of celebrity guests on hand for the event at the high-end night club, including rapper Jay-Z, Oklahoma Thunder star Kevin Durant and Yankees teammates CC Sabathia, Vernon Wells and Jayson Nix.

Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera and Andy Pettitte were also on the guest list, as was New York Knicks forward Amar'e Stoudemire.

There were also many members of Jay-Z's new sports entertainment company, Roc Nation Sports. Cano became one of the first athletes to sign with the agency when he left agent Scott Boras in April.

"You want the people around you who will help you do this kind of thing. That's what I really like to do. Help others," Cano said. "Getting guys like Jay and all his people who work with him, you know, helping be out tonight to raise some money for the cause, that's really impressive."

The night's main event was a domino tournament with an opportunity to play against Cano in the VIP suite. The winner if the domino tournament received a custom domino set signed by Cano, a trilogy of Ace of Spades Champagne, tickets to a Brooklyn Nets game against the Miami Heat in the Barclays Center next season, backstage passes to Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake's Legends of Summer concert at Yankee Stadium in July and use of a brand new Rolls Royce for one weekend.

There was also a live and silent auction on various Yankees memorabilia and other prizes.

The "Super Heroes" were on the red carpet outside the club. Iron Man, Spider Man and Captain America were all in attendance.

Many of the proceeds from Monday's event will go toward Cano's new goal of building schools. The second baseman wants to begin building affordable schools for underprivileged children in the Dominican Republic beginning in August.

The schools wouldn't be baseball related, instead focusing on education.

"Hopefully this thing goes great. My goal is just to start now building schools. Now we got a deal with Dream Project, so we're going to build our first school," Cano said. "We're going to have 100 kids. It's going to be $800 a kid. So hopefully we raise the money. Our goal is to open the first one, then just keep opening more in the Dominican."

Legends come out to play on 67th Old-Timers Day

Written By limadu on Senin, 24 Juni 2013 | 14.25

NEW YORK -- There were still four hours before first pitch, but the Yankee Stadium crowd had already been whipped into a frenzy. Fans all over the stadium were on their feet, holding out baseballs in hopes of getting autographs and trying to get their favorite players' attention.

But they weren't yelling "Derek," "CC" or "Robinson." Instead it was choruses of "Bucky," "Bernie," "O'Neill" and "Rickey."

Sunday was Old-Timers Day in the Bronx, and for the 67th year, Yankees legends gathered to see old friends, play a little baseball and be recognized in front of the fans who adored them during their playing days.

"I love it. It's one of my favorite days," said manager Joe Girardi, who participates in the festivities as a former player. "It's special, and what these guys have meant to the New York Yankees organization, being able to play alongside some of them, it's been great."

A long list of Old-Timers had their names called by announcers Michael Kay and John Sterling, each of them walking onto the field to sometimes thunderous applause. Longtime participants Lou Piniella, Mickey Rivers, Don Larsen, Bucky Dent, Rickey Henderson, Lee Mazzilli, Joe Pepitone, Willie Randolph, David Wells, Jeff Nelson, Reggie Jackson and Ron Guidry were all in attendance.

Yogi Berra and Whitey Ford were also there, riding in on a golf cart from center field to a standing ovation.

The loudest ovation, though, was for fan-favorite Bernie Williams.

"I think it's all about the introduction," Williams said. "Just knowing the level of admiration and affection and love that the Yankees fans have for players that have played before. It's great to be remembered."

There were also newcomers. Orlando Hernandez, John Flaherty, Andy Phillips, Brian Dorsett, Scott Kamieniecki and Todd Greene all made their first appearances as Old-Timers. The Yankees also brought back longtime trainer Gene Monahan, who retired last season.

"I haven't thrown a baseball in anger in over a year, so for me, it's exciting putting the uniform on," Flaherty said. "The experience of growing up in New York, coming back, playing for the Yankees and now being on the field for Old-Timers day, it's pretty surreal."

Flaherty was one of a group of Old-Timers who are still around the organization on a daily basis, as he, Paul O'Neill and David Cone are all YES Network broadcasters.

"It's the first day in, probably, my life that I feel more comfortable in a suit and tie up in the booth than I do in a uniform down on the field," O'Neill said. "It's always fun to come here, the fans are great. It seems to always be 95 degrees and humid and hot, and it brings back a lot of memories."

O'Neill looked pretty comfortable during batting practice, though, launching at least one ball into the right-field seats.

"You actually get little butterflies going, because O'Neill's taking batting practice, and you know he wants to take me deep," Cone said. "I've got to get my arm loose."

O'Neill wasn't quite able to hit a home run during the game, but he did launch a ball off the top of the wall for a long single in the first inning. Cone called that inning a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," as he entered the game to relieve Wells with O'Neill on second base and Williams at the plate.

That was just one of the enjoyable moments of the five-inning Old-Timers Day game, in which the Bombers beat the Clippers, 2-1. In the third inning, Dent hit a hard double past the third-base bag, Flaherty hit a double over Steve Balboni's head in center field and Henderson hit a two-run single.

Pat Kelly nearly drove in a run in the same inning, but first-timer Greene made an over-the-shoulder catch on the warning track in left field, and then celebrated his grab by chest-bumping a member of the Rays playing catch in the outfield.

El Duque pitched two innings in his first Old-Timers Day appearance, and he even played an inning at shortstop, to the delight of the fans.

"I'm happy. I think this is a great moment, a great memory," Hernandez said. "I feel great again. I enjoy the time."

Hernandez was laughing and joking with many of his former teammates before the game, including closer Mariano Rivera, who spent time on the field talking with many of the Old-Timers.

But even though this is the final season of Rivera's illustrious career, he's not ready to call himself an Old-Timer just yet.

"There's no comparison," Rivera said. "That's priceless. There's nothing like that. When you wear the New York Yankees pinstripes and come to Yankee Stadium -- the legacy alone, the name alone, means so much."

Overall, it was yet again a special day in the Bronx. Inviting players from the past back to Yankee Stadium is a great tradition, and every former Yankee in attendance agreed.

"It's the Yankees. That's enough said, right there," Charlie Hayes said. "To get to come back and see a lot of the guys that you played with -- I was a big fan of a lot of these guys that played before me -- I look forward to it every day leading up to this. It's very exciting."

"We have some great friendships here," Roy White said. "There's some special friendships you have in baseball, and I think they have a lot of meaning to them. I'm glad to have the opportunity to know some of these guys that I played with."

"I've been with this organization since 1958, and I'm still with them, still alive. I think it's keeping me alive, these Old-Timers games. I've been playing them since 1973," Pepitone said. "All these guys, you see them, and I look in the mirror and I say, 'Do I look as old as them?' And then I see I do."

"I played my first Old-Timers Game when I was 31 years old," Bobby Richardson said. "I'm 77 now, [will] be 78 in August, and it's still a thrill."

"The game is the same," Rivers said. "It's always been the same. Only thing you've got to do is the basics. The basics never change."

"I'm just happy to be a part of it, because it's a great thing," Henderson said. "I think most ball teams should be doing it -- bringing back the players that played for them and did so much for them, just to see how they feel and have some fun with them. I'm just proud that the Yankees are one of the clubs that can do that."

"It's wonderful putting on the uniform again. It really is," Piniella said. "I had a lot of great moments here, made a lot of friends. New York is a wonderful city to play in."

"It never gets old," Dent said. "I'm getting old, but this doesn't."

Old-Timers Day a day of humor, recollection, respect

NEW YORK -- Even nostalgia isn't what it used to be, old-timers say. And on this Old-Timers Day, it may have been true. Too many of the Yankees' foremost icons were missing on Sunday afternoon, and they have been missing for years -- even decades. But Yogi and Whitey still attend, and they make mandatory the attendance of anyone who spent summer afternoons across the street in the 1950s.

Louie Arroyo comes, too, but sadly, he now moves as though he's the one who needs relief. But the Mick and Joe D. now are residents of Monument Park only. Scooter and McDougald are gone, as are Reynolds and Raschi, Catfish and Clete. Even the widows of Lou and the Babe, so warmly received at Old-Timers Day celebrations in the 1950s and 1960s, are gone. Now, Moose and Turley are gone, and Thurman never had the chance to hobble to the first-base line to take his bow.

And on this Old-Timers Day, the 67th, neither Tino nor Torre was in the House that George financed, no Sparky or Puff. Donnie was at a ballgame elsewhere, and Reggie excused himself.

But like the championship teams that Casey, Houk, Billy and Torre managed in the Bronx, the Yankees had depth, a level that allows them to put on a come-as-you-were extravaganza that no franchise -- not even the Giants, Cardinals, Red Sox, Dodgers, Orioles or Reds -- can match.

It was a sweet program, worth every bead of sweat produced as the Bombers and the Clippers played make-believe in uniforms that were, for the most part, snugger than they would care to admit. Willie Randolph said nothing about the cramped quarters of Jesse Barfield's uniform top, but noted instead, "He's still got the tight pants."

"That's because he saw [Lee] Mazzilli's pants," someone suggested.

Randolph, back in his No. 30 -- 12 never looked right on him -- noted that Barfield still had the best arm in the place. He and Barfield threw some BP.

Another Yankees second baseman, Jerry Coleman, came back as well. Coleman was No. 42 long before Mo threw his first cutter, and he spoke with pride about his time with Stengel, Mick, Whitey and Yogi. And he recalled being escorted to the clubhouse the day before the first game of the 1998 World Series, against the Padres.

Then the Padres' play-by-play man, Coleman walked toward the locker that had been assigned to Catfish and Mattingly before Tino Martinez moved in. He slowed, moved to his right and spoke with great reverence. "This is where DiMaggio's locker was." Then he went silent for a few moments.

"What a pleasure and honor it was for me to play on the same team," Coleman said. "You know, I was from San Francisco. I saw Joe play at Seals Stadium. He never made a mistake on or off the field."

Coleman was alarmed and astonished when told that DiMaggio had been charged with four errors in a doubleheader in 1941. It happened in Fenway, two weeks into his 56-game hitting streak.

"That can't be," he said. "I didn't see it. But those were errors. He never threw to the wrong base and always knew how many outs there were. ... Those were the kinds of mistakes I'm talking about. ... Four errors, I can't believe it."

Coleman's introduction on Sunday came fairly late in the program. The Yankees were recognizing players who had served the country, and he had been a Marine aviator in World War II and during the Korean conflict. His service is not as recognized as that of Ted Williams, but then again, Coleman never batted .406.

As Coleman spoke on Sunday, Joe Pepitone, a Yankee of a different time and disposition, walked toward the batting cage. He, too, is a link to the Mantle and Ford days. It is another claim to fame for the man who famously brought a hair dryer into a big league clubhouse.

Pepitone spoke with Berra and Ford inside the Old-Timers Day clubhouse, and though he said, "Now it's my time to make fun of them," his respect for Yankees of that generation is unmistakable.

"How great they were as players. I saw Mickey at the end, mostly. He had so much talent, and he still was so strong."

Pepitone, 72, lost everything in Hurricane Sandy -- cars, the home in Queens he was renting, his memorabilia and all his clothing save for the sweatpants and T-shirt he was wearing. He didn't lose a hair dryer, though.

"No, what I lost were three hair pieces," he said. "We had 4 1/2 feet of water. They floated past me."

Gene Michael, who had more jobs with the Yankees than Pepitone had wigs, attended, too, of course. He managed both teams in the undercard game, as he has done in recent years.

"There's no way I can be the loser that way," Stick said.

He had Reggie in the original lineup, but Mr. October checked the calendar and decided against taking swings.

Stick looked at the vacancy on the card -- No. 4 -- and wondered aloud: "Should I put myself in that spot?" he said. But he decided against it. "I've reached the stage when it doesn't matter if I take batting practice or not. ... Actually, I reached that stage when I was playing."

Self-deprecating humor often is part of an Old-Timers Day. Ron Blomberg, the first designated hitter ever and a DH at heart -- he debuted the position 40 years ago -- was assigned to play left field.

He adjusted his cap. "It's the worst sun field, isn't it?" Blomberg said.

That was the old place in October, midafternoon. That's where Yogi concluded, "It gets late early here."

Blomberg hadn't known the circumstances that prompted that Yogi-ism.

"OK," he said. "Hey, don't go messing up my excuse when I muff one."

Mazzilli, who once played third base in one of these abridged games, was back in center field on Sunday, with Blomberg on his right flank. Maz acknowledged that he might have to share every hit to left-center.

And finally there was Pat Kelly, whose time with the Yankees touched the Torre years. A marginal player, Kelly understood why he had been invited to the ceremonies. He acknowledged his pedestrian career, but noted that, at age 45, he still can move around.

"I can play," Kelly said.

Moreover, there were rewards for attendance. Kelly grabbed the top set from a stack of new batting gloves.

"I'll get Mariano to sign one," he said. "And it's a Christmas present for someone."

And so Old-Timers Day went. Hot on the field, warm in the hearts of the men who reassembled to be recalled and respected, and to respect one another again. Most touching was Rickey Henderson, who spent more than a few moments with an older gentleman supported by a cane.

Now, Henderson was renowned for not remembering the names of teammates, opponents and, especially, general managers, but he instantly recalled the older man who had worked the door at the Yankees' clubhouse in the old Stadium during his 4 1/2 seasons with the team. Almost everyone else was uncertain, but Rickey knew.

"It's Charlie," he said.

"Charlie who?"

"You know, Charlie. He's an Old-Timer now. Charlie 'On the Door.'"

Mo on starting ASG: 'I'd rather pitch in ninth'

By Joey Nowak / MLB.com | 6/23/2013 10:45 P.M. ET

Yankees closer Mariano Rivera says he'd prefer to take on his customary role and close the All-Star Game on July 16 at Citi Field rather than start the Midsummer Classic.

Rivera plans to retire after this season, and there has been buzz in the baseball community about him starting the game. But Rivera told ESPNNewYork.com on Sunday that he doesn't like the idea.

"I've been told about it, but I don't like it," Rivera said. "And the reason why I say that is it's not what I do. What I do is close the games; I don't start the games. It's a privilege and honor, but I'm not contemplating it."

Rivera also told MLB.com last month that he wasn't interested in starting the game.

"It would mess up everything," Rivera said at the time. "It would be the first time I've started, I think, since 1995. I don't think it would be right. I'd rather close the game than start the game."

Rivera does understand that the All-Star Game is a fan-centric event and that many would love to see him pitch in the first inning.

"I do respect everyone trying to do it," he said. "But first of all, I have to be there. Second of all, I don't start. That's not what I do. I know they want to honor me for my career, and I know it's here in New York. But the thing is, I wouldn't be comfortable making a start."

The 43-year-old Rivera has a Major League-record 634 career saves during the regular season and four in the All-Star Game.

The idea is that if he starts, Rivera would be guaranteed an appearance in the Classic, whereas if he were to serve as a reliever, he may not see the field based on the game situation. But he wants things to be as normal as can be.

"I think the right thing is to do it the way it [normally] is," Rivera said. "I don't want to start the game and give up 10 runs in the first inning. I'd rather pitch in the ninth than the first."
